LEAD THERAPIST

Hi, I’m Anel.

Ten years ago, I was in the same place you’re probably in right now.

I was reluctant to try therapy. I’d grown up hearing that asking for help meant you were weak, that you just had to be tough and push through. As a Latina, those messages were hard to escape.

But after my own experiences, I reached a point where I had to be honest: what I had been doing was not working. I needed to do something different.

That decision changed my life, and it’s what brought me to this work. I became passionate about helping my clients see that they have the ability to change their lives too.

Most of us were never given the tools we need to manage life today. Our caregivers did the best they could with what they had.

Therapy can help fill that gap. Not by telling you who to be, but by helping you understand yourself well enough to decide.

My Master’s degree in Social Work is from Walden University. I’m a doctoral candidate in Community Care and Counseling at Liberty University, with a focus on trauma-focused therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions.

I’m licensed to practice therapy in California, where I provide services in both English and Spanish.

That’s a reflection of my heritage as a second-generation Mexican-American, and it’s not an add-on. It’s part of who I am and how I show up for my clients.

Over the years I’ve worked across a range of settings: schools, community-based organizations, prisons, and nonprofits. That experience gives me a broader context for understanding the different circumstances my clients come from.

My specialty is trauma therapy. I work with survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, childhood abuse, and other traumatic experiences.

I also work as a coach and in community mental health, providing crisis intervention. I’m a certified Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Advocate.

What Becomes Possible

Matt

Matt came to therapy thinking he needed help getting organized. What he discovered instead was the root of his beliefs and clarity in his values.

That clarity changed everything. He left his job, built the app he’d always put off, and now works remotely from anywhere in the world.

Jasmine

Jasmine came in exhausted and barely holding it together. Anxiety, anger, and self-doubt had taken over, and she wasn’t the mother she wanted to be.

Through therapy, she learned to regulate what she’d been white-knuckling for years, found forgiveness for herself, and went on to have a second child and go back to school to pursue her dream career.

Maria

Maria came in not knowing where to start. After years in a relationship that left her questioning everything, she wasn’t sure anything could help.

But session by session she reconnected with herself, found her voice, and built a life she once believed was meant for everyone but her.
